Redefining purpose in the age of AI? The human shift from a Learning Design perspective
We are living in extraordinary times. The age of AI is not just transforming how we work but reshaping how we think, feel, and connect. And for many of us who’ve spent our careers steeped in Learning Design, it’s prompting a powerful reckoning. But for me, I want to focus on what I’m calling the human shift.
Hi—I’m Bianca. If you’ve followed my work over the years, you know my journey has been all about education and Learning Design: two decades of building, coaching, leading, and learning alongside some of the most brilliant minds in the sector. This channel has long reflected that focus. Think edtech strategies, career pivots, and practical insights into the art and science of Learning Design through the growing age of AI.
And while all of that still matters (and still lives here), something inside me has shifted.
The human shift is calling
Over the past year, I’ve found myself drifting away from the "how-to" content. Not because it's no longer useful, but because it no longer feels like the whole conversation. Instead, I’ve been drawn to the deeper questions: What is this age of AI doing to our sense of identity? What does creativity look like when machines can mimic it? How do we stay grounded, curious, and human in this new world?
Let’s call it the human shift: the inner pivot many of us are experiencing in response to the relentless pace of the age of AI. It's not just about learning new tools or adopting new tech. It's about who we are becoming.
And that’s the direction this space is heading.
If you’re someone who’s also questioning things, how we live, work, relate, and create, then you’re not alone. Whether you're an educator, Learning Design professional, leader, or simply a curious soul navigating change, consider this your invitation. I’m evolving, and this platform is evolving with me.
Still rooted in Learning Design, but so much more
Let me be clear: education is still in my bones. I’ll continue to explore what’s happening across the sector—particularly through interviews, Q&As, and real talk about what’s working (and what’s not). And Learning Design? Always. It remains one of the most powerful levers we have to shape the future.
But this next chapter is about more than just frameworks and tech stacks.
It's about:
- The emotional toll of digital overwhelm
- The existential curiosity this age of AI invites
- The beautiful mess of reinvention
- And most importantly, it's about cultivating spaces for human shift so we can meet this new era with awareness, agency, and a bit of humour.
What’s next in the age of AI? Let’s find out together
So here’s my ask: if this resonates with you, join us. Bring your whole self. Because while we may be entering uncharted territory in this age of AI, we don’t have to navigate it alone.
Together, we can explore what it means to evolve. And not just as professionals in Learning Design, but as humans forging a meaningful path forward.
Let’s do this.
